Robert R. Thompson dictation and biographical materials, [ca. 1889].

Include dictation and a draft of a biographical sketch by Mrs. F.F. Victor. Information on his overland journey to Oregon, 1846; life in early Oregon; and subsequent experiences as Indian Agent for the territory east of the Cascade Mountains, and as shipbuilder and associate organizer of the Oregon Steam Navigation Company.

Elwood Evans (1828-1898), born in Philadelphia, went to Oregon Territory in 1851 as deputy collector of customs at Nisqually. From 1859 to 1861, he served as mayor of the newly incorporated town of Olympia, Washington. In addition to his historical work, A History of the Pacific Northwest, he contributed many historical articles to local papers. Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H.
